Baxter Duathalon

The Lost Valley Baxter Duathalon on January 28th, 2017 at Lost Valley.

Grooming and conditions (January 3, 2017)

Due to weather forecast no new grooming today.  Tracks are still in decent shape especially in Ricker's Field Loops.  Most of the skating lanes were groomed yesterday.  Because of the changes at Lost Valley it has become very difficult to groom the S curves on Broadway, the Entrance Trail and Water's Edge by the stream.  We are attempting to resolve this problem.  Most of the snowshoe trails have been packed out by hardy individuals.

Grooming and conditions (January 2, 2017)

Skating lane on most trails dragged this AM.  Could not reset track this morning due to equipment failure.  Track from two days ago is in decent shape.  The S curves on Broadway leading to the Entrance Trail were not groomed this morning.  Get out there today or tomorrow before rain on Tues. night and Wed.

Trails will probably be closed on Wed due to the rain and warm up.  Skiing on the trails when they get soft makes it almost impossible for the groomers to remove the ruts.

Grooming and conditions (January 1, 2017)

All trails are now packed and rolled.  Ricker's Field has track and hope to get more in today.  Pond Trail looks like it would be fun today.  A great day for warm skiing. Yesterday some local snowmobilers helped us break open the trails in the woods.  Some people were very surprised to see them on the trails.  We arranged to have them on the trail to pack in deep storms.  It saves us hours of labor.

Grooming report December 31, 2016

The goal today is to get the Ricker Field Loops groomed and tracked.  If time we will start working in the woods.  The depth of the snow is making grooming slow.  Snowshoe trails are ready for hardy packers.  It is going to be a beautiful day to be outside.
